Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
Overview
Zowl is a native macOS desktop application that orchestrates AI coding agents through visual pipelines. By downloading, installing, or using Zowl, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the software.
License Grant
When you purchase a Zowl Pro license, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software for personal or commercial purposes. Each license key can be activated on up to 3 machines.
Your license is a one-time purchase — no subscriptions, no recurring fees.
Major Version Upgrades
Your license covers the current major version and all its updates. For example, a v1 license includes every v1.x release (v1.1, v1.2, v1.9, etc.).
Future major versions (v2, v3, and so on) require a separate license. Existing customers get a discounted upgrade price.
Free Tier
Zowl offers a free tier with limited features: 3-hour session cap, 1 execution at a time, and no PRD scoring or auto-improve. No license key is required. The free tier is subject to these same Terms of Service.
Restrictions
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
- Redistribute, sublicense, or resell Zowl or any part of it
- Share your license key with others
- Use the software in any way that violates applicable laws
Refund Policy
Zowl offers a fully functional free tier. We recommend using it before purchasing Pro. Due to the nature of digital software licenses, all sales are final.
If you experience a technical issue that prevents Pro features from working, contact contact@zowl.app within 14 days of purchase and we'll resolve it or issue a refund.
Third-Party Services
Zowl orchestrates CLI tools like Claude Code, Codex, and others. These tools are developed and maintained by third parties and are subject to their own terms of service.
Zowl is not responsible for third-party API costs, availability, downtime, or changes to their terms. You use these tools at your own discretion.
API Keys
You are responsible for your own API keys and any costs associated with their use. Zowl passes your API keys to locally-running CLI processes on your machine — it does not store, transmit, or log them to any external server.
Limitation of Liability & Disclaimer
Zowl is a pipeline orchestrator. It executes commands and CLI tools as configured by the user. Zowl does not access, read, store, or transmit your code, files, or data. We have no visibility into your projects, pipelines, or execution results.
The AI agents executed through Zowl (Claude, Codex, or custom tools) operate with the permissions and tools you configure in your pipeline steps, including but not limited to file read, write, edit, bash execution, and other system-level operations. You are solely responsible for:
- The pipeline configuration and steps you create
- The permissions and allowed tools you grant to each step
- Reviewing the output and changes made by AI agents before merging or deploying
- Maintaining backups of your codebase before running any pipeline
- Any costs incurred from third-party API usage (tokens, compute, etc.)
Zowl is not responsible for any data loss, file deletion, code corruption, or unintended modifications resulting from pipeline execution, whether caused by misconfiguration, lack of human review, or unexpected AI agent behavior.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zowl and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the software. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for your Zowl license.
We strongly recommend running pipelines on version-controlled repositories and reviewing all changes before committing.
Termination
You can deactivate your license at any time. We reserve the right to revoke licenses if these terms are violated — for example, sharing license keys or redistributing the software.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Dominican Republic.
